Hi!
My husband and I just returned from our "official duties" as grand parents. We had to babysit our 3 1/2 year old grand-daughter while her mother was in the hospital.
Of course, needless to say, we enjoyed being a play mate to our little one, and had a great time. One day we took her out to the Mall and afterwards to a restaurant for some lunch. Well, when we returned I got a "lecture" about spoiling her appetite by letting her eat the lowly French Fries, of all things!
Another day, we let her eat an ice cream (on a hot sunny afternoon, even though she had had her lunch earlier!)
And the third thing that did us in, was that we bought her toy that she liked!
Basically, we 'spoilt' our little grand-daughter!!
Well, I have no shame in admitting it.....yes, I plead guilty as accused!
So, what's wrong with that, I ask? Grand parents were born to spoil their grand children! Especially if the grand children live far away in another state, and we don't see them except two times a year. It's our priviledge to spoil them, I say!
Our children don't seem to understand this and I would like to point out to them that remember children are young for only a short time....we have only a small window in which we can make an imprint on our grand childrens' minds. So, please, let us spoil these precious little ones! Chill.....guys! Please let us enjoy these moments which are fleeting in the big picture of things!
